Westville mom, Di Kendall, bared her heart and soul in her first book and built upon its success by launching another two books to help others find healing with their pets. The 41 year old first put pen to paper in 2008, deciding it was time to find her own sense of healing from a traumatic past.

“I grew up with an abusive stepfather. He would go for my mother and I, and would abuse our animals. He said it was okay because it was a form of obedience training. This was my story and why I chose animals.” Said Di “I never got justice for what I endured as a child and basically wrote the book as my own form of justice,” said the mother of two. Putting her name on something that could be read in the public eye was a big step to towards her moving forward and said she hoped it would help all South Africans to see there is a correlation between domestic violence and animal abuse. She admitted the first book took a while to write as she slowly waded through the torrent of emotions from her past. “I encourage people who have been in a domestic violence situation to know they can speak out and it will help the journey of their healing. They are more than welcome to anonymously send me their story,” she said. Di has a passion for animals and would have loved to be a veterinarian, but cannot handle blood, so she altered her path and moved into the field of animal communication. “Many people asked how I understand animals better and that is where my second book came in. Animals are empaths and are healing. My animals would know when I was upset,” said Di. She then wrote her second book How To Talk To Animals. She simultaneously began writing her third book, How to Encourage Animal Healing. I did this so the two books would correlate and so that many people could heal themselves in some way and, at the same time, heal their animals. It is to help others really understand their animals better and how stress and anxiety in their home does affect their pets,” she said. To order copies contact 8ightinfinity@gmail.com

I would now like to bestow the gift of healing that friend gave to me so many years ago, onto someone else. If you feel you would like to tell your story, and begin your healing journey, please email me and we can get the ball rolling to publishing it on my blog. If you would like to remain anonymous that would be fine too.
